Faculty Awards

A primary activity of the LSAMP-NICE is the promotion and funding of mentor awards. Faculty members mentoring a student participating in research abroad are eligible for the $8,000 awards. Research abroad includes International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (iREUs), LSAMP International Activities, other NSF funded activities with an international research component affiliated with PIRE, STC, IRES, etc., and other similar projects. An awarded faculty mentor would receive $8,000 to support the development and advancement of international research experiences for students at the undergraduate and graduate level. These awards may be used in a variety of NSF allowable expenses to support the faculty member, such as travel to the international host site; development of a new international partnerships; support for research supplies, and other expenses that would support the development of international collaboration. With each application, the faculty member is required to submit a budget outlining planned used for the award.
